A short guide to setting up domain forwarding on godaddy.

This is just a short guide to setting up domain forwarding on godaddy. Your blog will still appear as http://yourname.blogspot.com when people are viewing it, but it will allow you to use a .com that will redirect people to your blogsite.

1. Login to your godaddy a/c. And you should be able to find the page that looks like the image below. Click on the 'Launch' button directly opposite your domain name.

2. That will take you to your control panel. The page looks like this:

3. Tick the little box beside your domain name. And you'll see that some of the buttons that were greyed out can now be selected. Go to the 'forward' button and select 'Forwarding Domains' from the drop down menu that appears

4. A pop-up will appear (see image below). Click on the 'Add Forwarding' button.

5. Another pop-up box appears (see below). I recommend filling it out as shown in the picture. You can click on the preview to make sure it is linking to the right place and the site should load up in a separate window. 301 and 302 redirects have different pros & cons. If you are absolutely certain that you won't be setting up a different site then select the 301(Permanent) option. Otherwise select the 302, which will still work the way you want. Select 'Forward only' in the dropdown list (masking is crap, don't recommend using it). Finally make sure the box beside 'Update my nameservers....' is ticked. It should now look like it is in the image below.

6. Now click on the 'Add' button

7. You'll now see something like this:

8. Click on the 'Save' button.

9. It'll take a while for the changes to take effect. Varies - sometimes 15 mins, sometimes a few hours. Just try the .COM every-so-often and eventually it will redirect to your blog.

10. That's it!
